These were my initial thoughts on it until I started reading...
Thank you John Green you are truly an amazing writer and you can bring any fictional character to life
The narrator of this book is Hazel Grace a 16-year-old typical teenager who is always anxious, always complaining about the system of the world and an unextraordinary person (as she claims!! but both I and Gus refuse to agree)
She was diagnosed with cancer when she was 13 and her entire teen life or just her life in all, runs on a drug named Phalanxifor, she has to carry an oxygen cylinder always which mainly contributes to being one of the biggest reasons why hates going out and being looked at differently.
One such event in her life is going to the support group where she had to sit among children and teenagers who have/had cancer and listen to how similar but differently shitty their lives were...
she hates attending the daily meeting until she meets our hero (drum-rolls........)
Augustus Waters he introduced himself,
"I had a little touch of osteosarcoma(a type of cancer which produces immature bones) 15 months ago and now I am completely fine.." he said
Fine..he was more than just fine that charming smile, those athletic looks... those goofy eyes were enough to take any girls breath away and she already had less of it
The story mainly revolves around a book named "An Imperial Affliction" written by Peter Van Houten
The thought that a book, a simple book can have the power to change lives upside down, set goals, last wishes and bring two people so close to each other was a bit surreal in my opinion but that's what The Fault in Our Stars ended up doing to me,
This book will leave a permanent stain in your mind
Every time you pick up on just a thought you will end up reaching to the conclusion and your heart will pour out
Even though it is fiction...the characters are so well written and described that you'll start ascertaining for your Waters/Grace
In one such event Peter Van Houten aggressively says "Some infinities are bigger than the others"
And in my own little infinity, this book has created a great impact.
The book unfolds in a very special way where you start from loving Hazel Grace for her true personality and witty statements to hate Van Houten, to loving Augustus Waters(Which Hazel would not approve of!!), to feeling sorry for their parents,
It is a roller coaster ride that only goes up and once down it never runs the trail again.
But in this little ride of some 200+ pages, you will surely learn many things and in its own little way it will stay with you forever.
The Book flicks between Hazel's greed to find out the truth and Augustus's desire to make an impact over the world.
But the world isn't a wish-granting factory...you don't get exactly what you wish for, sometimes it can be even better...than you always wanted.
And in their journey of doing what they thought for their entire life, they end up being an inevitable part of each other and complete their desires through one another.
It is really a beautiful book... I am really excited to watch the Hindi adaptation of the book "Dil Bechara" on 24th of this month.
I would suggest you have a tissue roll with you when you sit down to read/watch this beautiful and heart-felt creation.😅😅
